What SGA position will you be running for?
  • Senator of the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences
What is your academic major/educational track?
  • Biology, taking the Pre-Med track
Why are you running for this position in the Student Government Association?
  • Something I value highly is making an impact wherever you go, which is why, since I've been here, I've wanted to make an impact in some form, and over the next year I'll be at UCCS, I'd like to continue making lasting impacts on the university and gain a more well-rounded perspective within SGA as well. Being a part of SGA again will allow me to further develop my leadership skills, as there is always space for expansion and development, no matter what. These skills will aid me in becoming a successful leader and making a difference in the future. I feel that student representation and advocacy within administration are critical to a successful institution because I recognize the importance of student representation and advocacy. As a result of my prior skills and experience, I am capable of effectively communicating as a link between students and administration, which makes me the best fit for the role of Senator of Letters, Arts, & Sciences to serve as not only a student but also an individual who is aware of what is going on at the school and sets the best example for UCCS.
What past experiences would make you a great candidate for the Student Government Association?
  • Some of my previous experiences that would qualify me for SGA include being a member of clubs and organizations that made a difference in my high school and outside curriculum, including Interact Club (2017-2021), Pre-Health Club (2018-2021), African Alliance Club (2017-2021), Social Justice Club (2020-2021), UNICEF Club (2017-2021), Sisterhood (2020-2021), Aurora Sister Cities International (2018-2021), African Student Association (Public Relations, 2022-2023), and Resident Assistant (2022-2023).
What are some of your hobbies/interests and how are you involved at UCCS?
  • I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, trying new foods, taking pictures, creating graphics, and advocating/ social justice. Currently, I am involved at UCCS in many different ways, including as the Senator of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, Sisterhood Club (Co-President/Public Relations), Black Health Professions Student Organization (Vice President), Student Marketing Coordinator (Dining, Campus Store, and the Farm), Krimson Kourts Incorporated National Service Organization (President), Multicultural Coalitions, Mt. Lion Leadership Council, and attending school events and supporting/attending other clubs like the Black Student Union, Feminist Club, Latinx Student Union, and many more!
