  • Bachelor of Innovation in Digital Media Communications- Sophomore
Why are you running for this position in the Student Government Association?
  • Leadership is how you show out for yourself and others on a daily basis. I am becoming a capable leader through involvement within my university and community to apply my learning, contribute my talents, or serve others. Student life is the key component to growth, growth that is only possible through unity, communication, and compassion. I would like to cultivate this growth through building interrelationships between students, administration, the Springs community, and beyond. I intend to apply creativity and initiative to find new better ways of accomplishing goals that will make progress towards the vision of greatness for the future of UCCS.
What past experiences would make you a great candidate for the Student Government Association?
  • As a leader, I need to be able to see things from a different point of view. By working with a diverse range of people, groups, and places I am effective by assessing the needs of my community from within. Individuals will have differences in perspective and passion, as a leader its my job to provide both. I am learning and expanding as a leader by doing things that expose me to challenges and having humility. To be an innovator, I must live in the possibilities. I have discovered the possibilities at UCCS to become distinct from other universities as inclusive, collaborative, and resilient through taking risks to realize my potential bringing people together and demonstrating excellence. I am serving as the Vice President of Service & Philanthropy within my fraternity, a position which has transformed me as a leader who can model sincere care and support for other people in any situation. I participate in every volunteer opportunity I can, I take a stand and advocate for ideas, and perform despite adversity. I am an officer in the Active Minds chapter, mental health is a complex problem innovators around the world are facing. This position will provide me the platform to unite the community despite tragedy and struggle through productive activism.
What are some of your hobbies/interests and how are you involved at UCCS?
  • I put myself in a position to innovate to learn challenges, needs, and growth opportunities from within my community. The connections I build each lead to the greater purpose of a united community that can collaborate and communicate to solve issues. I have attended several of the UCCSLead events, including Game-Changer, JEDI, and Days of Serivce and Activism. I am an active member of the Greek life community, promoting interorganizational support for events, fundraising, and promotion. I have applied to become a Resident Assistant for next term this Fall 2023 and I am excited for the opportunity to be involved in a new way with my university.
